A pivotal cultural learning experience that has changed my attitudes and values was my volunteer experience in Fiji. This experience taught me about the importance of altruism and how a minimalist approach to life over a materialistic one is much more valuable. Having this inter-cultural experience has deepened my appreciation for nursing in underserved communities, allowing myself to practice cultural humility to further grow as a person.
